Stylish sterling silver beaded jewelry

Betula Blu uses only Bali and Thai fine silver and sterling silver precious metal beads in its creations. While these beads are of premium quality, prolonged exposure to humidity will eventually tarnish the shiny, bright veneer of our beaded silver jewelry. Tarnish is a yellowing of the exterior coloration of the metal. It is easily removed using a jeweler's cloth or a thorough wash with a liquid dish detergent. Dip type tarnish removers are not recommended as many gemstone beads are porous and can be discolored through this type of treatment. To wash in a mild dish soap, place your Betula Blu jewelry in the palm of your hand, add a few drops of soap, add a few drops of water and gently rub your hands together to create a thick soap sud. Add a little more water and repeat.  Pressing the jewelry between your palms with the soapy mixture will wash away all oil and debris and remove mild tarnish.  We recommend Dawn brand dish detergent. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap.  Air dry on a wad of paper towels or a dish towel.  This can be effective in reclaiming a brilliant silvery shine.

However, the best and easiest treatment is preventative. Always keep your beaded silver jewelry in a clean, dry air tight container away from direct sunlight and extremes in temperature.  Our tarnish strips are also a great asset in the fight against tarnish. Simply add a strip to the top of jewelry box or jewelry drawer. Tehse strips neutralize the gasses that casue tarnish.
